How it works?

It's simple. The Trennbar device mounted next to the bins has an installed camera module on top of it which is able to recognize objects and their materials by leveraging the power of Machine Learning and Computer Vision. The Deep Learning network running under the hood of the device is so powerful that it is able to classify objects in a second. The display that covers the front our Trennbar device will tell you which trash bin the object it belongs to.

In cases when you are sure that the detected object material is actually incorrect and the waste belongs elsewhere, you can always interfere and claim that the AI model made a wrong decision. By claiming that, you will be able select the correct bin type on the screen and dispose of the waste. By doing this, the Trennbar device will improve itself, thanks to you, and will make better predictions next time. Additionally, after each detection you will see the CO2 counter which holds statistics on recycled objects and their CO2 emissions in KGs. And even more than that, the LED bulbs can be installed on top every trash bin to automatically light it up and show where the object in your hand belongs to, with a visual hint!

The device is just 20x10x10cm, very light and needs only one source of power with 5,1V (official Raspberry Pi charger) which makes it advantageous compared to other solutions in the recycling industry.
